Nails of the Week

My first manicure was a French.

I ditched school one morning on a Senioritis whim, stopped at McDonald's drive-thru for breakfast, pushed my car seat all the way back, and enjoyed the sunlight until the nail salon opened. Breakfast was a ritual for me those days. My friends always commented on the strange things I would eat for breakfast... so McDonald's was an unusually normal choice for me... but I like their processed sausage. Even if it does look like cardiac arrest in a wax paper wrapper.

I'd worked so hard for my grades all throughout my childhood years but that morning it felt so pointless and false. I used to think that my life was so complicated and confusing as a 18 year old... Sometimes I wish I could go back and give my young self a hug. Like, "Relax. It's going to turn out alright."

What is it about youth that always makes us look back on it all gooey-eyed?

Anyways.

I'd always wanted a French mani. Ever since 3rd grade when I read Claudia from "The Babysitter's Club" refer to it. (If you know exactly what I am talking about, cyber high five to you!)

Since then, I've probably had it done countless times. Especially in weird color combinations. These days the fashion authorities tend to frown upon the classic white French unless you're getting married. The perma-frenchie nails look tired and boring... old lady-ish and lacking creativity. Even worse in my book- French pedis. Blech.

But. In honor of the two weddings we're attending this week, I gave myself one. Glitterified.

What do you all think? Yay or nay? What are your thoughts on the classic French manicure?

I love glittery nail polish, but can't ever get away with it, so I think this is the perfect solution LOL! I really love it actually! About the classic french manicure, I like it because it's my ideal manicure (in my head that is.. and ya it's probably the Babysitters Club's fault) but in real life it never turns out well... sure my nails look great for the first day maybe, then the white chips off and I just look trashy. That being said, I have only had maybe four french manis in my whole life, so it's not like I am an expert or anything, but those are my thoughts ;)
